Tips & Tricks

SOME USEFUL INFORMATION TO CONSIDER AS YOU PLAN YOUR SPECIAL DAY.

ON THE DAY

Weather

  • Always have a Plan B if you are having an outdoor ceremony

  • Be mindful not only of rain, but of wind, noise from unexpected events nearby & extreme temperatures. All of these affect the comfort of your guests, the audibility of the ceremony, the photos and the general success of your wedding

  • Decide between the two of you who will make the decision as to whether to move to Plan B, and at what time the decision will be made

Music

  • If you are having live music by professionals, they will let you know what is recommended for best audibility. However if they are amateurs consider whether they need their own mics etc to be heard (on a windy beach, for example, an acoustic guitar can be difficult to hear)

  • For pre-recorded music, you will need someone to press play and stop for each piece of music. This is a more important job than it may sound. Getting the queues right has a big impact on the tone of the wedding. Ensure they have a copy of the ceremony and know when to play each song.

  • If you are using the PA system I provide,I can talk to the person playing the music before hand to show him/ her how to use the system.

  • The PA system I use connects to devices via bluetooth, USB cable or SD Card.

Children

  • When including small children in the bridal party, be prepared for them to act differently to you may have hoped, when all eyes are on them. Usually whatever they do is sweet and memorable anyway

  • Wherever possible, children, including flower girls and page boys, should be taken away from the ceremony if they are crying or making lots of noise

  • Perhaps have a picnic blanket and a supervising adult to one side of the ceremony, to occupy the small kids while the ceremony is taking place

  • Children walking down the aisle with balloons is pretty but ensure the kids are not left holding the balloons during the ceremony, as they can make a lot of noise
